The only downtown Harrisonburg speakeasy. The full bar has a delicious list of cocktails, beer, and wine to complement the rustic and chic space. Each weekend, we feature a new specialty craft cocktail that showcases our bartender’s talents. In true Jacktown nature, the Hideaway's beer menu is one to impress with a wide variety of styles and sophisticated flavors.

Our building was remodeled in 2009, the upstairs floor and the building itself was in need of serious renovation. The upstairs eventually turned into four loft-style apartments and was rented out immediately.

Once Billy Jack's opened, the owners needed more space and were also dealing with noise complaints from the upstairs tenants. So the owners took over the leases, split half into to storage spaces and the other half into one hell of a man cave.

A year passed and the owners realized that the space had potential. The door always has to stay locked because of the other apartments above Jack Brown's, so the idea of a speakeasy was born.

Speakeasies were traditionally dark, quiet, and clandestine spaces from the Prohibition Era that featured some of the most original and innovative cocktails of the time. The team of bartenders and the house mixologist, has developed the menu into the perfect fusion of classic and modern libations. Jack's Hideaway features drinks made with the highest quality ingredients and a slew of house-made infusions and bitters, not to mention some of the best scotches and bourbons we can get our hands on. We have over 100 bourbons and whiskeys in stock.

The Hideaway is only open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 pm with a last call at 1:15 am. Closes at Midnight on Thursday. The Hideaway is also available to rent out for an event experience unlike any other. The design is described as part hunting lodge, part Al Capone's basement.
